Connections Between Star Wars and DW Griffith (Film Studies)

The film techniques that I saw in Star Wars was that George Lucas had close ups, music going along with the scene, and cross cutting. He does close ups only on the people he want to put some emphasis on. For example, when the good soldiers are waiting for Darth Vader's men, he zooms in on a soldier concentrating on the door. Also, he zoomed in on Princess Leah. The technique of playing music along with the scene is also important. Every time there was a boom, you could hear it. The music complimented the scene well. The last one is cross cutting, He goes from good guys to bad, and he does it very well. You can really understand the story more, instead of just having an establishing shot giving you one plain view. All these techniques were first seen in D.W. Griffith's movies.
